Located in Kujo, Osaka,Tsuki no Odori is a beloved yakitori restaurant that has been a local favorite since its founding in 1999.
Owner Mr. Tokunaga carries on the tradition of authentic yakitori passed down from his grandfather, carefully grilling each skewer with heartfelt dedication. His commitment to flavor and craftsmanship continues to earn the praise of both locals and visitors alike.
Since 2015, Tsuki no Odori has been offering Halal-friendly courses with the hope that everyone, regardless of religion, can enjoy delicious meals with peace of mind. All chicken used is Halal-certified, and meticulous care is taken even with seasonings. When no certified products are available on the market, the owner goes as far as to make his own products from scratch. One standout example is the fully homemade dressing, which is so well-loved that his Muslim guests often ask for the recipe.
The course begins with a colorful and seasonal appetizer plate featuring four items: Japanese-style rolled omelet, fresh salad, sweet and spicy fried shrimp, and garlic toast. Next comes a traditional Japanese hot pot made with Halal chicken and salmon. The broth, rich with umami, offers a gentle and comforting flavor that warms the body. The grilled chicken is seared over charcoal, delivering a savory aroma and satisfying texture that brings out the natural flavor of the meat. As one of the main dishes, the "Kaki Bourguignon" features a large, shell-on oyster topped with burgundy butter—offering a rich and creamy taste that leaves a lasting impression. To finish, a smooth and refreshing gelato is served, bringing the meal to a satisfying close with a lingering sense of delight.

As a gesture of hospitality, Muslim guests who visit the restaurant receive a pair of traditional Japanese chopsticks as a gift. This thoughtful token, paired with its elegant design, is greatly appreciated and often cherished as a memorable keepsake from their trip. It adds a special touch to the Tsuki no Odori experience, creating a deeper connection with Japanese culture.
Owner Mr. Tokunaga has a unique background—as a former professional dancer, he appeared in commercials for major companies and also spent time living in the United States.
Fluent in English, he creates a warm and friendly atmosphere that welcomes guests from all walks of life. The restaurant features both counter and table seating, offering a cozy, comfortable space where even first-time visitors naturally find themselves engaged in conversation. It has become a gathering place for people from both Japan and abroad.
